Note: Next week's Come Follow Me lesson is in 2 Nephi 31-33. I enjoyed the last words of Neph to his people and us or all that read his words: 1. And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking; for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men. 2. But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught. 2 Nephi 25:23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
I studied scriptures and listened to the story, "What Shall We Do?" by Leo Tolstoy. I think he may be writing about his life as the main character telling the story. In the 1830s he was a lord by title, with much land and possessions, and the tenants on his plantation were looked after much better than other peasants and tenants in Russia.
I slept in, had my personal prayer, and wrote in my journal while everyone slept in. Later I showered, shaved, and got dressed. I had cereal for breakfast. When the children were ready Beth drove to the Vista Hermosa Ward for ward conference. The bishipic had all been released and a new bishopric put in. Maggie and I set beside Brother Brown who recognized me as Michael's father. In the combined Priesthood and Relief Society meeting Beth and I set behind the Murdocks. Brother Murdock is 87 and has known us since Michael and Autumn first moved to San Clemente. The Capistrano Stake Relief Society President who lost her husband when a wheel came off at diesel tractor-trailer and hit him as the driver. She was able to get the car off to the side of the road. Emergency technicians arrived and got her and her small children out of the back who were covered in glass and historical. She prayed for her husband to live but it was not the case. Her husband was dead and she was a widow with small children to raise but she had a spirit of peace to come over her. "The Lord does not provide us with an umbrella to shield us from the storms of life but he does provide us with a rock to stand on when the floods come." We came home and changed clothes and at 3 pm drove over to Michael's for a combined birthday party for him, Beth, and Autumn's grandmother, Marion "Nemo" Walker. Matthew got back with Madeline, Bella, and friends, Emma and her dad, Bobby Daniels, Bobby was one of the cooks at the Daddy Daughter campout I went to in CA. with Matthew and the girls. They left the cabin at about 3 am; parked the Tesla in the garage at the house; put it on the charger; got an Uber to the Provo Airport; and flew to San Diago. Madeline had cheer practice at 10:30 am and then attended a friend's birthday party before her family picked her up and they all drove up to Michael and Autumn's for the family's birthday party. Baylen Johnson brought his grandmother, Elain Brown, my sister, and his girlfriend, Brandis he has been dating for 3 years. Sean, Allie, Autumn's sister, and their children drove up from San Diago. Elain, Baylen, and Brandis were the last to leave. I enjoyed visiting and listening to Elain's stories. Micahel brought me back to Beth's to spend the night. Beth and the children had already had prayer but were still up. I visited, had my personal prayer, before going to bed. Debbie had already gone to bed at Jody and Tony's. She had called earlier. Joe L. locked the door from the house to the garage when he and Karlene, Debbie's sister, and we will need to get a locksmith to open the door for us to get in.
