12 Noon start hike to the Bomber Peak Crash Site - Bomber crash site Mt Timpanogos                                                                                                     In 1955 a storm blanketed the Wasatch Mountains in eighteen fresh inches of snow, and a U.S. Air Force pilot lost control of his B-25 and crashed.  At the trailhead, there were 3 trails.  I took the center trail to Scout Falls.

I met Hunter Areesk; he just got home from his mission to British Honduras and visit his aunt in Peru.  He was hiking with his grandmother to meet his mother at Scout Falls.

I did not make it to Bomer Crash Site.  I hiked to Scout Falls and on the first meadow and above.  I got to Scout Falls and took pictures at 1:15 pm.  I got lost twice.  I had lunch on the side of one of the cliffs at 4:00 - 4:30 pm.  I got back. to the Timpooneke parking lot and car about 6:30 to 7:00 pm.

Brett called and I called him back on the way home when I had a phone signal.

I got home I sent Brett the email regarding the nursing homes in Georgia.  Jody was visiting with her Mom, Debbie.

I showered and relaxed.  Later we had family prayer with Alex.  Carter call and talked to Alex.  Afterward, we had family prayer and I went to bed about 1 am.  Debbie stayed up working on games for the children to play this Sunday.

The trailhead forks into 3 trails,  I took the middle  trail

                                                                          Scout Falls

close-up picture of  me at  Scout Falls

First meadow on the way to the summit of Mt. Timpanogos

                                              Cliffs and ledges

I was told to "stay on the trail/path.  There are switchbacks going up."  The trail disappeared and I was following deer or elk trails coming out of the meadow.  I was lost but knowing if I went straight up to the cliffs I would cross the trail at least twice.  I had to go almost straight up through thick undergrowth where I could not see my feet and the limbs and undergrowth would pull my shoes off.

At about 4:00 pm sitting on the side of the mountain, I realized there were no trails I had crossed and I was not going to be able to find the location of the B-59 crash site today,  I ate part of the lunch and had some hydration water I brought.  I took a 30-minute late lunch break and headed back down the way I came up making my own trail through thick undergrowth.

The view was beautiful - The hand of the Lord is in His creations

One of the obstacles on the trail that had to be crossed
