Ashlyn Grace McAlpin's 17th Birthday

Debbie and I are both sore this morning.  Debbie from working out at weight training and me from hernia surgery.  We had prayer and I sent Gracie a happy 17th birthday text.  Dan Owens texted me what I need for the fruit trees and rose bushes so I ordered a container of earwig bait, Sluggo Plus, from Amazon.  I called the Utah County Election Committee and our ballot for this year's political election will be mailed to us on Oct. 15th.  Debbie went to see Clara play softball.  I went back to my 2022 and 2023 journals looking at the information on supplements I was taking with Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard with the Inside Tracker program, mainly the NMN and Resveratrol supplements.  Basically what I learned was that most types of dementia are not reversible because the brain damage that occurs is permanent.  I guess I just think the Lord and move on making the most out of it.  I talked to Michael and Matthew.  I called and talked to "Dickie" Hoyt Puckett, an old friend on the phone in Tallapoosa.  His family were sharecroppers who lived on our farm when I was a boy.  Ryan, Stephanie, the children, and Stephanie's parents, Randy and Kathy Hansen came by.  They are attending the wedding of their son.  The girls are making flower arrangements and corsages.  I was under the weather from yesterday's hernia surgery and went to bed after I had prayer.  I am still sore but have not taken any pain medication since my surgery yesterday morning.

 21 Jun 2024, Friday Priorit ized Daily Task  St Peter Port, Quersney 10:30 pm - David Knight, H ypnotist in Coral Theather (Eric was part of the group to be hypnotised)  I was up at 5 am, had prayer, got dressed, and went down to the 6th deck at 5:40 am.  There were 3 or 4 people already waiting to get the first tender tickets for their families to get off the boat this morning.  The Royal Caribbean crew started giving out tickets before 6 am.  I got 12 tickets, came back to our cabin, and went back to bed.  Later when Debbie was getting ready to meet our group and before she left, we had prayer together.  The family went to breakfast and I slept until everyone was getting on the tender to so in to the Island of Guernsey.  27 Jul 2024, Saturday Priorit ized Daily Task  6 pm - take Debbie, Tylee, Jami, and Libby to SLC Airport to catch a flight  to LAX at 8:05 pm and then to Fiji Airlines  on Jet Blue Airline Note:  “God gathers, Satan divides, and Christ unites” Note:  (This is a story I have kept for years.  It has a moral, and I hope it has meaning to you)  Our house was directly across the street from the clinic entrance of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. We lived downstairs and rented the upstairs rooms to outpatients at the clinic. One summer evening as I was fixing supper, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to see a truly awful-looking man. “Why, he’s hardly taller than my eight-year-old,” I thought as I stared at the stooped, shriveled body. But the appalling thing was his face; it was lopsided from swelling and scarred, red, and raw. Yet his voice was pleasant as he said, “Good evening.  28 Jul 2024, Sunday Priorit ized Daily Task  8 am - set up chairs at Lehi 7th Ward Building 9 am - Sacrament meeting Lehi 7th Ward 10:15 am - Church at Abbington Memory Center I did not set an alarm but woke at 7 am refreshed.  My internal clock wakes me when I have got 7 to 8 hours of sleep.  I had my personal prayer, made the bed, got dressed, and was at the church building before 8 am.  I started setting up chairs in the overflow.  The first to arrive was brother Gary Pyne.   He has been a counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency but was released to serve on the stake high council.  When his meeting with the stake presidency and high council was finished he came over to the Lehi 7th Ward and helped me.  Later other brothers and some wives arrived.  We finished setting up chairs for the overflow, the Priesthood, the primary room, and the Relief Society room.  We were finished by 8:50 am.  Our new stake president ...
