Josephine Traveller's baby blessing in Springville
Debbie and I were up early and had prayer. I am still fasting from yesterday. Today is fast Sunday. It snowed last night. I got the electric snow blower out and removed the snow from the drive. I plugged the charger in to charge the Tesla. I removed the snow and ice from the Outback Subaru. I cranked the Outback and turned the heater and defroster on. Debbie and I drove down to Tyler and Samantha Traveller's in Springville. Laura and many of Samantha's "Sam's" family were there. They were cooking and preparing for a brunch after church today. Their church building is across the street. I took Debbie, Cooper, Kenna, and baby Grayson in the Outback to the front door of the church building before 9:00 am. Debbie and I set with the family near the front for Sacrament meeting. Tyler asked me to stand in the circle while he blessed Josephine, his daughter. There were about 20 Melchizedek holders, family, and friends, in the circle. I stood next to their bishop and George Gourley. After the Sacrament was blessed and passed, those who desired could share their testimony. William "Will" Smith, age 93, was born in South Arkansas in October 1940. He said that as a boy not having electricity and cut wood to heat and cook. Debbie nudged me and said you can relate to that man. After Sacrament meeting most of Samantha and Tyler's family went back to the house for brunch. I stayed for Sunday School. Will and his wife, Dianna Smith, set next to me. He gave me his phone number, 501-304-0401. Dianna's family joined the church in 1955 in south Arkansaw. William's, Will's, family had moved from the country to town. The missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ could only proselyte inside the city limits. Eight members of his family were baptized. After joining the Church they attended meetings in Hot Springs AR. If Will's family had not moved to town they would not have met the missionaries. Their daughter who sings with the Tabernacle Choir bore her testimony in the Sacrament meeting. Tyler and his dad, John, built the duplex that Tyler and Sam live in. Laura Gourley, Sam's mother had brought chairs and borrowed more chairs so they would be seating for everyone who came. Pictures were taken and Debbie helped clean up after everyone had left. I loaded the Subaru with chairs and casserole dishes Debbie had loaned. Before we left Kenna called from Shelby and Libby's apartment at BYU; she had left her cell phone. Debbie and I drove up to the apartment building. Cooper came down the elevator and got his wife's cell phone. As were were pulling out of the parking area, Cooper called and told us our left rear tire is almost flat. I backed up and he rode with us to his truck and covered trailer. He loaded the Subaru and we rode up to the Costco store in Lehi where I bought the tires. A piece of metal had punctured the tire and it could not be repaired. They put a new tire on and rotated the tires. The next 10,000-mile rotation is due at 162,000 miles. Cooper drove back to Provo where Libby was doing Kenna's eyebrows and nails. He is picking a car up in SLC and taking it to Twin Falls tonight. At 5:00 a.m. tomorrow he and his brother, Cooper, are driving to McCall, Idaho to go snowmobiling with friends. Debbie and I got home and unloaded the car. I had prayer while Debbie heated up some chicken noodle soup and part of a grilled cheese sandwich. I broke my fast and spent the rest of the afternoon writing in my journal. Alex texted me and wanted to know if I would pick her up tomorrow morning at 10 am at the SLC Airport. She sent me a picture of her with her brother, Blake, who is starting this year at New York University. her cousins, Jake Lively, Kate Johnson, and Elender, and James, Elender's daughters who live in upper-state New York. Debbie is working on her genealogy. Later Debbie and I had prayer together before going to bed before 10 pm.
