Prioritized Daily Task
8:00 am - help set up chairs for church in ward building
9:00 am - Lehi 7th Ward Sacrament meeting
10:30 am - Abbington Memory Center church
Find a substitute to cover for Debbie and me at Abbington Memory Center on July 9th while we are in Ireland. I called and emailed Darrell Harmon. He is on the Gateway Stake High Council and has the assignment for Abbington Memory Center. " Thanks for agreeing to help us cover church services at Abbington Memory Center on July 7th.
We arrive at 10:00 am. The ward in charge of services usually arrives between 10:20 and 10:30, the time scheduled for services to start.
The staff, usually two CAs, have the chairs set up with the podem and sacrament table in the hall, but this is not always the case especially if the staff is new.
We let any job that requires priesthood be handled by the priesthood, such as setting up the sacrament to be administered. Debbie passes out the songbook and helps the residents find the correct pages of the songs to be sung throughout the service.
I go with the deacons or whoever is passing the sacrament to the rooms of the residents who do not come to the dining and TV area for the meeting so there are always at least two entering a resident's room.
I encourage those in charge of the meeting to end at 11 am or a few minutes minutes after because the staff wants to keep the residents on a schedule for lunch and their medications.
When services are over I encourage the assigned ward to help put things back. We put the chairs on the rolling platform, put the hymn books, sacrament cloths, and sacrament trays under the podium, and fold up the table. The table, podium, and chairs are stored at the end of north east hallway. The PA system needs to be plugged in to keep the battery charged so it will be working the following week.
Thanks again for serving the residents of Abbington Memory Center.
Best regards,
James and Deborah McAlpin
I slept well, had prayer, and got ready for the day. Darrell Harmon sent me an email and said he would take care of Abbington Memory Center for us on July 9th. At 8 am I went to the Lehi Ward building and helped the Elder's quorum set up chairs for church in the building today. I went home and picked Debbie up for sacrament today at 9 am. After sacrament meeting, we rode over to Abbington Memory Center and met the members from Cranberry 2nd Ward who are providing priesthood and music for the meeting today. After the meeting, they helped us put everything back that had been taken out for church services. Debbie and I came home and charged the Tesla. I took the cover off the Sebaru and loaded the car. We ate brunch and drove up to Downey, Idaho, and put flowers on Dale and Joanna Koester's graves. I drove on up to Shelly. I called all the children Michael, Matthew, Beth, and Rae Lynn. Debbie called her aunt Anita who lives in Provo.. She was not home. She had been to Idaho Falls, Shelly, and Sealander graveyard and put flowers on some of the family graves. We got to Joe L and Karlene but they were in Cordelane, Idaho hiking. Debbie watered Karlene's flowers. Reed was next door watering his potatoes. Katie, his niece, has taken part of his potato field for her lawn. Debbie and I had prayer before going to bed.
