Holy Head, Wales (? With family to Conway Castle on Holyhead train) Trip advisor-HOLYHEAD SHORE EXCURSION: North Wales Adventure - Sightseeing Day Trip Tour-8-9 hours
I was up early, had prayer, showered, shaved, rested and checked my email. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we are delighted to announce that we have raised over $420,000 to further FAM's mission of serving those in need. Your contributions will enable us to continue making a positive impact in our community, and for that, we are truly grateful. It was a joy to see so many dedicated individuals come together for such a meaningful purpose. This was the event I attended when I was in San Clemente for Blake's graduation. Autumn is on the board. I went once or twice when I was there visiting and volunteering to help feed those in need. Debbie is still sick. I gave her my nose spray to use. We had prayer together before going to breakfast. Matthew, Melodie, Vickie, Elain, and the girls, Madeline, Bella, and Ava met on the 3rd deck and waited for all the excursion groups to get a tender to the dock at Holly Head, Wales. We were about an hour later getting off the ship than what we had planned. The tender took us to the pier a mile away from the pier near the train station where we planned to be getting to be put off. We tried to get a taxi or Uber with no success. The train we had tickets to ride only makes one run to Conwy. When we got off the tender we had 24 minutes. By the time we learned there were no taxis that would take us to the train station we only had about 12 minutes to catch the train over a mile away. We started walking but the train station was at a higher elevation than the dock. With Elain and Debbie, walking was difficult. There was no way we could walk to the train station in 40 minutes. As we were walking up the street hope we would be able to catch our train was given up by the group. There waw a small group of construction workers on the side of the street. I had stayed back with Elain and was asking how to get to the train station. There is only one train going to Conwy today and it leaves in a few minutes. My sister can not walk fast. One of the men in charge told us to come on and get in the van. I helped Elain get in and ran up the street to where our family was. The construction worker stopped and moved his equipment, supplies, etc. around so everyone could get in. We got to the train station about 2 minutes before the train left Holy Head. On the train we talked about how the Lord had blessed us despite the delay by Royal Caribbean getting us on the tender, then taking us to a pier the furthest from the train station, and then there being no public transportation from the pier to the train station and us running out of time to catch the train. On the 33 miles, we passed the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. The long name was supposedly contrived in 1869 as an early publicity stunt to give the station the longest name of any railway station in Britain. The name is sometimes shortened to Llanfair PG. It is a village and community on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. We were not rushed when we arrived in Conwy. We stopped at the Victor Center first and then went to Conwy Castle. A fortification in Conwy, located in North Wales. It was built by Edward I, during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1287; more than 700 years ago. Constructed as part of a wider project to create the walled town of Conwy, the combined defenses cost around £15,000, a massive sum for the period; equal to 45,000,000 pounds today. We had fish and chips at a small restaurant inside the city walls and walked to the river Conwy. We stopped, visited, and took pictures of the smallest house in Great Britain. One of the descendants of Robert Johnes operated the business. The last person to live in the house was a local fisherman called Robert Jones (who also happened to be 6 foot 3) - before Mr Jones an elderly couple lived there. The home was built on the city wall in the 16th century and remained in use until 1900, We caught our train back to Holly Head and had to walk back to the pier to catch the tender to the ship. Lori Lynn went on a tour of the lighthouse and met us on the pier. Elain stayed with her and they did some shopping. We got back to the ship and everyone except Eric who was sick met for dinner at the restaurant for an oriental dinner. When we got back to our cabin, Debbie and I had prayer before going to bed.
